DEAL is a research group at the Università Ca’ Foscari Venezia involved in studying the linguistic processes related to the education of pupils with “Specific Language Needs”, i.e. developmental differences in communication, language and learning. The ultimate goal is to promote fully inclusive language learning without barriers.
DEAL performs both theoretical and field research, the results of which are disseminated through the publication of essays and books, teacher and expert tutor training courses (courses in Venice and at educational institutions) and the creation of language teaching materials accessible to students with Specific Language Needs. DEAL has also initiated important collaborations with prestigious institutions, such as the Italian Dyslexia Association, Oxford University Press, Loescher Publishing and the Erickson Study Centre.
DEAL makes use of a multidisciplinary team, which includes experts in the teaching of modern languages (Italian, English, French, Spanish, German) and ancient languages (Latin) working in multiple learning situations / language training (formal education in schools and universities, personalised remedial courses).
